Money, Markets & the Economy

Teaching economic concepts can be difficult. Not only are we not trained for it, but the prevailing wisdom of the market often obscures the ways in which our economic lives are infinitely more complex than supply and demand. A great place for teachers to begin could be the following website, which I discovered this morning.

It has an education section and is focused on and based in Australia. But, there is lots of interesting stuff here.

Canalway Symposium

Dave I., Jennie V., Sarah B., and I presented at the 2006 Canalway symposium, Implementing Regional Innovations. Jann came for moral support. And, judging from the many interesting conversations, it went well. It would appear that we will have several excellent partners for the summer workshop along the canalway. The opportunities are astounding, really. It is heartening but lots of work remains.

environmental education

I was at a meeting yesterday, and someone mentioned ParkWorks. (See the link below.) They, apparently, do some interesting environmental education programs, as does the Shaker Lakes Nature Center. I am wondering who else on the CanalWay (beyond our partners at Stark Parks, that is) do environmental education?
