Today and tomorrow (April 17-18), ROAM, the Roots of American Music, is working with Peter Rutkoff and their education team to lead a workshop on blues music in American History.
I will be blogging live from the workshop, making some notes and adding links and depth to what we're talking about, but also trying to record some of it. And, indeed, our teacher teams will be recording blues songs of their own making, which they will use to teach the blues in the courses.
Mamie Smith recorded the first blues record.
